ISLAMABAD, May 4: Armed conflict and displacement bring their own distinct forms of violence against women and children and Swat violence has no exemption.
Thousands of internally displaced families have reached in twin cities in search of shelter. Jamila, 45, once resident of Mingora is one of
them. After a cruel journey full of hardships, she fined 8X6 feet room for her six member family, granted by a non-government organization in its office in G-11.
Some 25 years back, Jamila was married to Muhammad Zada of village Kotke in district Shangla. Then her family shifted to Mingora and they were in Landykas for last 15 years. Her husband carried wheelbarrow in Mingora which was the only source their income while sometimes Jamila also sewed clothes to help her husband. They also provided their children with education and their elder daughter, Fatima, now a married one, did her BA. Unfortunately one day she last her husband when Taliban blown up a nearby PSO filling station. The incident took place in 2008; to help the poor lady the local people collected some Rs 100,000 for her family.
